What is telc?

telc stands for The European Language Certificates. It is one of the most widely recognized language certification systems in Germany and Europe.

The exams follow the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and provide an official proof of German language proficiency.

Available levels include:

  • telc A1

  • telc A2

  • telc B1

  • telc B2

  • telc C1 Hochschule

Is telc Accepted by Authorities?

Yes. In many administrative procedures, a telc certificate is accepted as official proof of German language skills.

Examples include:

  • Residence permits

  • Permanent residence applications

  • Citizenship applications

  • Certain visa and integration procedures

The required level depends on the specific procedure and authority.

Is telc Accepted by Universities?

Many German universities accept telc C1 Hochschule, which was specifically developed for higher education admission.

However, admission requirements vary by institution. Applicants should always check the requirements of their chosen university.

Which telc Level Do I Need?

  • A2

  • B1

For Work and Professional Development

1:1 Coaching for Job Seekers: Language, Applications, and Career Orientation in One Program

Job seekers are often given well-meant but generic advice: a resume template here, a group course there. The problem: every professional starting point is different. Someone who recently arrived from abroad and is still working on B1-level German needs something completely different from someone with fluent German looking for a career change. A one-size-fits-all program rarely fits anyone particularly well.
